Kembra Pfahler

Playboy Event Miami Art Basel 2011

One of my biggest inspirations is Kembra Pfahler, the music and performance art goddess! She co-founded  the band The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black to add a musical aspect to her performance art.

I highly recommend this amazing interview she did with Punk Globe. Kembra says that she makes her art and performs WITHOUT drugs, and I find that to be much more impressive, brave, and true to the artist's personality and vision than performing or creating concepts with the aid of drugs.

One of my absolute favorite songs in the universe, Mr.Twilight from the album A National Healthcare:

Kembra is also quite infamous for her performance in the video Sewing Circle, which I have not seen yet. I don't know if I really want to watch it. She gets her vagina sewn shut. One of these days, perhaps, I will reveal the horror to my eyes! haha. I don't want to watch someone I adore get hurt, (even if she was totally okay with it) so I am kind of iffy on if I will ever watch it.

By the way, her brother is the drummer from Jawbreaker, a band that I listened to a lot back in the middle school, and I didn't know there was a connection! What an awesome family full of talent :)

This great tribute Tumblr has pics I don't usually find on a Google search. Kembra has rare and raw talent, so I am very excited to see pictures of her or interviews that I have not encountered before!
